• Database Developers to build and maintain a scalable, timely, and highly available data platform to power clinical trials

Your Commitments: 
• Continuous interaction with the Data Architects to understand the evolving data model
• Define, deploy and optimize table structures, indexes and queries.
• Identify inefficiencies, research and apply solutions
• Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues.
• Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems. 
• Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to databases. 
• Develop and maintain stored procedures, views and functions
• Ensure all database systems meet business and performance requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation
• Evaluate, install and test new database versions
• Implement and manage security policies and procedures
• Provide training and knowledge transfer
• Establish and enforce standards and procedures


• Production experience with one or more leading databases including Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer, Postgres or DB2
• SQL Expertise
• Experience with relational database design/modeling using tools, preferably PowerDesigner
• Experience managing data load performance, query performance, archiving, etc. of large datasets
• Troubleshooting and resolving availability and performance issues
• Backup and recovery management
• Linux and Windows command line expertise
• Experience with scripting languages and implementing operational automation using scripts

Your Preferred Competencies: 
• Management of large scale distributed databases
• Continuous Build, Continuous Integration
• AWS Cloud Services
• AWS RDS, Aurora exposure an additional plus
• Columnar databases such as Redshift or Impala
• Hadoop, Pig and Hive jobs
• Message Stream Processing, such as Kafka/Kinesis to Spark/Storm
• NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB
• Experience with Clinical Trials and/or healthcare software systems
• Programming experience with a popular language such as Java, C#, Python or Ruby
• Experience with a commercial ETL tool such as Pentaho or Informatica
• JSON and XML formats
• Agile methodology, preferably using JIRA

Your Education & Experience:
• BS or advanced degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related field; or equivalent years of experience
• Requires a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
