How to Lock Down a cell ?

In VLookUp Example when we use that formula in a cell and when we drag formula to other cells, we need to lock down the copied to perform that lock

Suppose you want to lock down D4. Place the curosor between "D" and "4" and press F4 key. 2 $ signs will appear and it will look like $d$4 - this will lock down the cell.


This will lock down both the row and column.

In some scenarios you might have to lock down only the row or only the column. In that case, keep pressing F4 until the $ sign changes places.
