do you mean you are trying to import a template for the Sale Invoice?? please clarify

I am trying to use the Import of Data option under utilities for vouchers i.e Import File Name

as per my info you can only import files that are in Tally xml format into Tally ERP 9. so for example if you have exported such a file from another company file in Tally to a location in your pc(for e.g daybook.xml) then you need to do this :

Gateway of Tally > Import > Vouchers > (specify name of xml file in the prompt 'import file name (XML)')

Can you please provide me the sample xml file with valid data i will import that will proceed , so i will get the exact idea .

if you already have a company file created in Tally ERP 9 and have also passed vouchers in that file you can carry out this sample exercise to experience how Tally ERP 9 imports vouchers:

1) To get the sample xml file Export (some or all) Day Book Vouchers in the company file by :

Gateway of Tally > Display > Daybook > Alt + E (or press the Export button on the top horizontal button bar) > select XML (data interchange) in Format option (appearing 2nd from top)

Note the (default) Export Location path shown. You can also change the path to wherever you want to store the XML file.

2) Then open the company file in which you want to import the XML file you exported and stored in the default or your own chosen location. Do the following to import the XML file :

Gateway of Tally > Import > Vouchers > (specify name of xml file in the prompt 'import file name (XML)')

hi vchawandke! just to clarify my above response what I mean is that if you have for example 2 companies created in Tally ERP 9 say ABC & Co. and XYZ & Co. assume also that you have passed vouchers in ABC & Co. that you want to import in XYZ & Co.

so first you export the vouchers from ABC & Co. in the XML format. then open company XYZ & Co and import them there. hope I have explained clearly. feel free to ask any other question regarding this.
