What is investment Banking?

In this course "Basics of Business Finance", the first main topic is "1. Introduction to Investment Banking", but i don't see you explaining anything about it.The sub-modules mentions about Corporate finance and you discussed only that.
I understood from your lecture that Corporate finance plays a role whenever corporates need to take decisions like raising capital, growing, etc,.But, while explaining "Investment Banking", you said they provide holistic financial advise - including IPO, share issues, mergers, acquisitions.

Now, for me both seem similar and got confused. Can you throw some light.

In the industry both Corporate Finance and Investment Banking are used interchangeable to refer to the same thing. But as far as a strict definition is concerned, Corporate Finance is a sub-unit of Investment Banking. The major goal of Corporate Finance is to maximize shareholder value using many analytical frameworks. Investment Banking typically focuses on helping companies raise capital. Is that clear ?
