Login to Cloudera Manager in the Cloudera VM, you will be taken to "All Services Page". On the Row where it says "Hive1" select "Actions" and select "restart". Once Hive has been restarted , login to Hive shell and verify.

I am uing CDH3 and i dont see the "All Services Page" when i login to the Cloudera VM.
