not sure if it works in windows8, try edit settings of the VM > Options tab > Guest Isolation > Enable the Copy and paste option

HI Sai

I don't think you can directly copy paste between them. You will have to use Winscp or filezilla to move the files around.

Thanks
Shabana

No Shabana, I usually drag and drop in my machine (Windows7). But yes if that doesnt work you always have winscp.

enable clipboard maybe then. I have never tried

Rakesh/Shabana - Thank you !

Shabhana- Yes I used winscp to upload files from local to server. Actually I want to copy commands from text file and paste in vm from desktop.

for example : hadoop fs -mkdir /user/cloudera/class3/wc-input1

Are you trying to paste it terminal?

Yes :) and also I was trying to copy results of wordcount program from terminal to notepad and did not work.

ok, copy paste in terminal doesnt support Ctrl+c. Try Shift+Insert.

Hi Rakesh - Tried Shift+Insert and it did not work. I also tried right click paste and same result.

Steps followed:
step 1 : Windows -> notepad text file - copied command "hadoop fs -mkdir /user/cloudera/class3/wc-input1" using Ctrl + C

Step 2: VM - cloudera@cloudera-vm:/ Shift + Insert or right click paste
