The last example in the document is:

hadoop fs -chmod -R 777 /dezyre/

but the example output shows files being changed to 666, not 777. What happened to execute permission?

hi John,

If you are using Cloudera VM, you don't have to perform these steps. just create the directory as :
hadoop fs -mkdir /user/cloudera/dezyre

Thanks

I'm just asking for general understanding - I don't understand your example.
