You can install the quickstart cloudera VM, download it from here http://www.cloudera.com/content/www/en-us/downloads/quickstart_vms/5-5.html.

Based on your preference you can install ORacle VM or VMware player free and download the VM based on your virtualization softwaer (ORacle VM/VMWare player).

If you are not able to do one of the steps in the installation document, can you tell me which step is it? I was able to complete all the steps.

Hi Sujana,
You won't able to run the Cloudera CDH-4 or CDH-5. Because it required 4 GB RAM and your system has total of 4GB RAM.
Either use the Cloudera CDH3 or you can use Apache Hadoop Pseudo Distribution Mode on Ubuntu (this only required 1GB RAM). If you need any of those downloadable link for these please let me know.

how to launch cloudera express manager in cloudera..


Hi Sarala,

Once you open your Cloudera VM.

It will automatically Open Mozilla Web Browser and One page will be open , where you getting two Button to click. Select second button as "Cloudera Manager". It will load the next page and ask you to provide credentials and you have to enter the "cloudera" as username and "cloudera" as password.

I am having 8gb RAM ..once i open cloudera manager it says that it is necessary to have 8gb RAM to lauch cloudera era manager..Is there any other way to launch cloudera manager???


Hi Sarala,

Please use the Cloudera CDH4 that required only 4GB of RAM.

You can still use the Cloudera CDH5, with 6GB out of 8GB as shared memory. It will be bit slow but still works fine.

My laptop has 8 GB RAM capacity...i have allocated 4GB for cloudera..once i opened cloudera manager it says that it is necessary to have 8gb RAM for cloudera to lauch cloudera era manager...I cant xpand my RAM to 16GB and allot 8Gb for cloudera...Is there anyway to work in cloudera with my 8GB RAM ??kindly help me out ......
