Help Installing Cloudera Hadoop CDH4

11 Answer(s)

Mark,

First download the CDH4 image from one the links given in the instalation document provided.

It would be a zip file, you need to unzip it.. and it would be a folder containing the CDH4 disk image.

Open VMWare player and open this image from the VM player. It would automatically open up the Cloudera hadoop instance VM.

Hope its clear

Thanks.  I got to the point to unzip and open with VMWare player, but it told me the VMX file is corrupt.  I will try this again.

Sorry, but this does not really help.  I clicked on all 4 links available in the PDF document to download the zip file, and try to open with VMWare.  Each time, it tells me that the file is corrupted and can't open!  Should I go directly to the cloudera website and try to download CDH4 that way?

Mark, after replying to you, I tried to download from the link and installed VMware, as I was using virtual box. It's working fine for me. Note that the cdh4 file is around 4gig.

When u go to cloudera, u won't get the link for cdh4 anymore. Only cdh5.8 is available right now. But that needs some heavy config pc.

Let me know how can I be of any help to you. Let me know whether I need to share the cdh4 which I downloaded from the drive.

Yes, Nikhil, if you could share the downloaded file that would be awesome!  :)  Also, I agree with you on your assessment of trying to download cdh5.9 from cloudera.  Very confusing!

How can you go about sharing this with me?  Can you attach to a message directly?  Not sure why it is saying that the file is corrupt each time.

The file is huge... and my google drive doesnt have any space, im so sorry...

Please try this link, and click the download button...

Lets see if this works. This was the link which i used to download, and it worked for me.

Hi Mark,

The File vmx is compatible with vmplayer not virtual box.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Thanks, but I am using VMware Player.  No matte what I do (what download link I use), or what zip software I choose, it tells me that the VMX file is corrupted when I try to open.  Am I the only one with this issue?  This is quite frustrating and I am concerned that I will fall behind in the class if I don't resolve soon.

Should I try to reinstall the VM Player software?  Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Mark,

Please install the Vmplayer of latest version. It will resolve the issue.

Thanks.

Whew!  I think that might have actually worked!  Thanks so much.  :)
