change group in hadoop

hadoop fs -chgrp -R cloudera /dezyre/: try to use this command to change the group but it didn't work for me.

[cloudera@localhost ~]$ hadoop fs -ls /user/cloudera/test1
Found 2 items
-rw-r--r-- 3 cloudera cloudera 3226646 2015-12-11 21:13 /user/cloudera/test1/peace1.txt
-rw-r--r-- 3 cloudera cloudera 3226646 2015-12-11 20:49 /user/cloudera/test1/war_and_peace.txt
[cloudera@localhost ~]$ hadoop fs -chgrp -R Supergroup /user/cloudera
chgrp: changing ownership of '/user/cloudera': User does not belong to Supergroup
[cloudera@localhost ~]$ hadoop fs -chgrp -R Supergroup /user/cloudera/test1
chgrp: changing ownership of '/user/cloudera/test1': User does not belong to Supergroup

Hi Venkata,
Please correct the command - hadoop fs -chgrp -R cloudera /groupname/

You have to mention the group for change.

hi Venkata,

Why do you want to change the permissions of the directory in Hadoop. Whatever permissions the "cloudera" user has now is fine, do not change as it will lead to multiple issues overtime.
