An area chart in tableau compares among different dimensions and shows relationships between them in a dataset. In the area chart, values are determined by analyzing the area under each line and calculating its variations with time. In the area chart, colors are shaded in the area between the axis and the line.

Step 1 > Connect the "NFL Offensive Player stats, 1999-2013.xlsx" data set.

Step 2 > Drag the "Hometown" dimension and drop it onto the column shelf.

Step 3 > Drag the "College losses" measure and drop it onto the row shelf.

Step 4 > Select the Area Chart under the marks card drop-down menu.

Step 5 > Drop the "Year" dimension in the color field.

Step 6 > Sort the Hometown in descending order nested using the sort option.
