Recipe Objective - What are Trend Lines in Tableau? Explain with example.

A Trend line in tableau is used to predict trends in data. The trend line is also used to identify the correlation between the two variables by observing trends. Trend Line has four options in tableau: Linear, Logarithmic, Exponential Power, or Polynomial model types.

Steps to create Trend Line.

Step 1 > Connect the "NFL Offensive Player stats, 1999-2013.xlsx" data set.

Step 2 > Drag the "Year" dimension and drop it onto the column shelf.

Step 3 > Drag the "College losses" measure and drop it onto the row shelf.

Step 4 > In the Marks card, the bar is selected.

Step 5 > Under the analytics window, add the Trend line in visualization.
