I still do not have Hadoop installed correctly (evidently) on either my laptop or desktop. I get error messages when just trying to issue the hadoop fs -ls command.

The instance on my laptop now insists that 64-bit operation is not possible, and that Intel VT -x is restricted, even though I DID change this setting in the BIOS.

I am spending all my time here, when I should be writing and executing map/reduce code. Very Frustrating.

I agree with Ramakrishna and Tim. The instructor for this course was good but all the supporting material was very week. I was ONLY successful in running the sample MapReduce program based on the video posted on the website. All the other supporting material was insufficient for me to set up a proper test environment. I am very disappointed in the overall class. This prevented me from completing ANY of the assignments in the Cloudera environment. The only assignments I was able to complete were for Hive using an IBM Big Data University VM.
