Recipe Objective - How does the Color field work in Tableau?

The color field is the most used feature in the tableau. When a dimension, i.e., a discrete value, is dropped in the color field, the categorical palette is chosen by tableau and assigns a color to members of the field. Different color palettes can be chosen using the Edit Color option with more than thirty palettes in the tableau. The default color for marks is Blue, and the default color of the text is Black.

Step 1 > Connect the "NFL Offensive Player stats, 1999-2013.xlsx" data set.

Step 2 > Drag the "Player" dimension and drop it onto the column shelf.

Step 3 > Drag the "College Wins" measure and drop it onto the row shelf.

Step 4 > Drag the "Year" dimension and drop it onto the color under the marks card.
